This is a guideline on HIV testing and partner notification published by the World Health Organization in December 2016 as a supplement to the guidelines on HIV Testing Services. The guidelines on HIV Testing Services(HTS) were published to achieve the 90-90-90 global HIV targets, specifically one focused on diagnosing 90% of all people living with HIV. In particular, they highlighted the potential of HIV self-testing to increase HTS access, especially among key populations. Although the WHO has recommended  partner testing since 2012, implementation of partner testing in most countries remains low. Thus, this guideline is meant to support this.
