Eveline Geubbel’s article, “Epidemiology of Maternal Mortality in Malawi”, written for the Malawi Medical Journal, looks at the different ways to measure maternal mortality rates in Malawi and its different determinants and causes. She does this by listing different ways such metrics are often measured and offering brief costs and benefits to each. As mentioned above, the essay also looks into different medical and socio-political causes of maternal mortality, and does so on both a global and national scale, providing statistics and factual evidence for each problem and how it affects mothers. This is done in an attempt to guide potential approaches to the issue to more wholistic, carefully monitored and evaluated, structure.
