In his article, Humans Aren’t Winning the War on TB, Paul Farmer explains how the world has shifted its focus from TB to other diseases, which is bad for many poor countries that are still very affected by TB. Farmer talks about how many new programs are being focused more on HIV/AIDS, and some programs that are supposed to help with TB are not able to do much. The main reason these programs don’t do much for TB is because many think that the TB treatments are expensive, toxic, and have very painful injections. Farmer then goes on to mention that although these facts may be true, there aren’t many alternatives and something must be done to help those infected with TB. In the end of the article, Farmer mentions that there is a new treatment that gives hope to those infected by TB, but it is still in its testing stages.
